River Gardens

In January 2021, the Scottish Government launched a National Mission to reduce Scotland’s drug-related death rates. As part of this initiative, the River Garden Auchincruive project was developed to provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals can turn their lives around through residential rehabilitation and recovery. SOLIS was appointed by ISG as the mechanical contractor for the refurbishment and development of the River Garden site.

DELIVERY

The River Garden facility is designed to be a fully functional residential rehabilitation centre, where residents live on-site during their recovery. This required the installation of all key building services to ensure comfort, safety, and functionality prior to occupation.

For Phase 1, SOLIS delivered comprehensive mechanical services, including:

Installation of a Daikin Source Heat Pump system providing efficient and sustainable heating
Connection of 14 Gallant Plus radiators throughout the facility
Complete plumbing installation for six WCs and wash hand basins (WHBs), including one fully accessible WC
Plumbing and fit-out of the new commercial kitchen, including concealed ceiling voids to house cables and pipework while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic
Integration of thermal insulation and ventilation systems to ensure comfort and energy efficiency

All works were carried out in close coordination with ISG and project stakeholders, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.

IMPACT

Phase 1 was successfully completed and handed over on schedule, allowing the first residents to move into the facility and begin their rehabilitation journey.

The new systems have provided:

Reliable and efficient heating and plumbing infrastructure
Enhanced comfort and functionality for residents and staff
Energy-efficient and low-maintenance solutions supporting long-term sustainability

This project marks an important step in supporting the Scottish Government’s national recovery mission.
