Morrisons supermarket chain has 497 supermarkets across England, Wales, and Scotland. They understand the need to adapt to the consumers’ needs and develop in-store layouts to make the shopping experience as smooth as possible. The current Aberdeen store required a refresh due to a new store layout and new concepts that they were developing.

Challenge

Due to our experience in managing retail refurbishments we were asked to supervise the overall project. The main aspects to the refurbishment were to install a new butcher, fish mongers, bakery as well as introducing street food vending areas to produce street food items.  Another part of the refresh was replacing old boilers and pipe work to support the additional works being carried out on site.

Solution

SOLIS are familiar to working in environments with the public, external works were undertaken during the day with minimal interruption to customers. The internal refurbishments were conducted during nightshifts, in the interest of safety and so as not to affect with the customer experience. Deadlines on the night shift were extremely tight, as the works needed to be completed and delivered in time for reopening the following morning.

Impact

As the new-store launch dates were set in stone, there was no room for delay in the project delivery and handover, so long days and nights were worked by the team to make sure everything was running smoothly and on time.

Services

Complete store refurbishment including shop fitting, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical works, refrigeration, plumbing, painting external and internal and  environmental maintenance.  The store was handed over to the client ahead of schedule and the client was delighted with the end results.  There was plenty of time for the client to introduce the staff to the new layout and conduct internal training before the new store officially launched. This provided a smooth opening for all involved.
