As part of our continued growth, SOLIS Group is seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager with a strong technical background in hard FM. The Technical Service Manager is responsible for the effective day-to-day management and technical delivery of SOLIS Group’s FM services across a portfolio of client contracts.
The role provides operational leadership across the Helpdesk, coordination and engineering functions, ensuring work is planned, allocated and completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical and contractual standards. The role also supports client relationships, KPI performance, technical compliance, continuous improvement and the development of our service delivery model.
Key Responsibilities
• Service Delivery: Ensure FM services are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual requirements, service levels, KPIs and client expectations.
• Technical Management: Provide technical support and direction across hard FM services, including planned and reactive maintenance. Review technical issues, recurring faults and remedial requirements and ensure appropriate solutions are implemented.
• Helpdesk & Coordination: Oversee the day-to-day Helpdesk and coordination function, ensuring requests and work orders are correctly prioritised, allocated, tracked and closed within required timescales.
• Engineering Support: Provide operational and technical support to engineers, helping resolve technical queries and ensuring they have the information and resources required.
• PPM & Compliance: Ensure planned preventative maintenance programmes are effectively managed, and that statutory inspections, servicing, certification and remedial actions are recorded, monitored and completed.
• Quality & Health & Safety: Ensure works comply with SOLIS procedures, relevant health and safety requirements, technical standards, RAMS and client requirements.
• Client Management: Act as a senior operational point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships, attending service reviews and proactively resolving issues and escalations.
• Performance & KPIs: Monitor response times, first-time fixes, outstanding works and contractual KPIs, using data to identify trends and drive improvement.
• Commercial Awareness: Monitor operational costs and support the Head of FM with contract financial performance, variations, resource planning and efficiency.
• People Management: Lead, motivate and develop Helpdesk, coordination and engineering teams, supporting performance reviews, training and development.
• Resource Planning: Monitor workloads, staffing levels and engineering capacity and recommend resources required to meet contract requirements.
• Subcontractor Management: Coordinate and monitor specialist subcontractors where required, ensuring works are completed to the required standard and appropriate documentation is provided.
• Mobilisation: Support mobilisation of new contracts, including operational planning, resources, systems, processes and technical information.
• Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, processes and customer experience. Support the effective use of CAFM, digital systems, data and technology.
• Reporting: Produce and review operational information and reports for management and clients, ensuring accurate records are maintained and actions are completed.
Key Skills & Experience
• Proven experience in a Technical Service Manager, Facilities Manager, Service Manager or similar operational role within an FM environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of hard FM services and building maintenance.
• Experience managing planned and reactive maintenance within a multi-site or multi-contract environment.
• Good understanding of health and safety, statutory compliance and maintenance requirements.
• Experience managing Helpdesk, coordination and/or engineering teams.
• Experience monitoring KPIs, service levels and operational performance.
• Commercial awareness, including experience monitoring budgets, costs and contract performance.
• Strong client, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
• Confident decision-maker who remains calm and professional under pressure.
• Competent with CAFM, Microsoft Office and other digital systems used to manage service delivery.
• Proactive approach to problem solving, continuous improvement and customer service.
Qualifications & Training
A relevant technical or FM qualification is desirable. Relevant trade qualifications, health and safety training and industry-recognised technical certifications will be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain appropriate knowledge and training relevant to their role and the services delivered by SOLIS Group.
