Challenge
Marks and Spencer faced significant issues with their existing macerators, which were insufficient for handling the waste from their toilet block. This led to frequent blockages and maintenance problems, disrupting operations and causing inconvenience to both staff and customers.
Solution
To address this challenge, we proposed digging a trench to lay a new underground drainage pipe. This new system would replace the problematic macerators and provide a more reliable and efficient solution for waste management.
  1. Assessment: Our team conducted a thorough site assessment to determine the optimal path for the new drainage pipe, ensuring minimal disruption to the store’s operations.
  2. Planning: We developed a detailed project plan, including timelines, resource allocation, and safety measures to ensure the project was completed efficiently and safely.
  3. Execution: The trench was dug with precision, and the new drainage pipe was installed. We ensured all connections were secure and tested the system thoroughly to confirm its effectiveness.
  4. Restoration: After the installation, the site was restored to its original condition, including laying new vinyl flooring & reinstating toilet services ensuring no visible signs of the construction work remained and the store could resume normal operations without delay.
Impact
The new drainage system significantly improved waste management for Marks and Spencer. The benefits included:
  • Reduced Maintenance: The new system required less frequent maintenance, reducing operational disruptions.
  • Improved Efficiency: The drainage system handled waste more effectively, preventing blockages and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Cost Savings: With fewer maintenance issues, Marks and Spencer saved on repair costs and minimized downtime.
