SOLIS Group and First Steps Future Training: Building Opportunities Through Partnership
Last updated: 12.45pm, Wednesday 12th August 2026
Since partnering in January 2024, the relationship between SOLIS Group and First Steps Future Training has continued to go from strength to strength, creating opportunities for trainees while delivering positive social and environmental impact within the local community.
Following a visit to the First Steps Future Training centre, SOLIS identified an immediate opportunity to support its ongoing project at Viridor GRREC and requested a trainee to join the team on placement.
Creating Opportunities and Reducing Waste
The partnership extends beyond training and employment opportunities. When SOLIS began refurbishing a warehouse, the company was left with a significant amount of office furniture that was no longer required.
Rather than allowing the furniture to go to landfill, SOLIS contacted First Steps Future Training to see how it could be reused.
The First Steps team quickly arranged collection, with the furniture now being repurposed and recycled with the support of its trainees. Items will be reused where possible and donated to local charities, nursing homes and nurseries, helping to give unwanted furniture a new lease of life while reducing unnecessary waste.
As part of the refurbishment, SOLIS also had a television that was no longer required. First Steps contacted Royston Youth Action, who were delighted to accept the TV for their Games Club. The First Steps team delivered it safely to the organisation, where it could be put to use by local young people.
A Partnership with a Bright Future
First Steps Future Training’s motto is “passion, not profit”, and the partnership with SOLIS reflects a shared commitment to creating opportunities, supporting local communities and making better use of resources.
SOLIS is proud to support First Steps trainees as they gain valuable experience, develop their skills and take their first steps towards rewarding careers, while working together to deliver meaningful social and environmental benefits within the communities we serve.
